Cole and I had some "tough" talks about marriage and growing older yesterday. It went something like this:
Cole: "I want to marry you, Mommy."
Me: "You can't marry me."
Cole: "But I want to marry you, Mommy."
Me: "Why do you want to marry me?"
Cole: "I love you."
Me: "I love you too, but you can't marry me. I'm your mom: we're related. AND YOU CAN'T MARRY ANYONE YOU'RE RELATED TO." (We do live in East Texas after all.)
-------
The Scene: Mike and Cole watching television in the living room (while I'm slaving away unloading the dishwasher ;)). Chuck-E-Cheese commercial comes on.
Cole: "I want to have my birthday party when I turn 6 at Chuck-E-Cheese."
Mike: [Snickering loudly] "Go tell your mom."
(You may remember how I feel about Chuck-E-Cheese.)
Cole: [Skipping into the kitchen] "Mom, I want to have my 6th birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese's."
Me: "Absolutely not."
[Pause, but not even long enough for him to say "but..."]
Me: "But we can do something else fun."
Cole: "Like the zoo?"
Me: "I'll look into that."
Cole: [Running back to the living room] "Daddy, Mom said I'm having my 6th birthday party at the zoo!"
We are still recovering from the camp-out party and we have 6 months to go before Cole turns 6, but here are my questions. Has anyone ever had a party at the zoo or attended a party at the zoo? Is it manageable with a group of kids, or do I need to limit it to just a few of his good friends? Leave a comment below or e-mail me. I'm seeking advice on this one, and volunteers to be chaperons. :)
