Okay, I'm not a single parent, but I am by myself with the boys quite often when Mike travels. Monday night, while I was putting Tate to bed, I asked Cole to stay in the guest room with his toys, movie, and the dog, and to please be quiet.
It was awkwardly silent while I was rocking Tate. When I went back in the room, I smelled something sweet. I noticed a large, empty package of Craisins (dried cranberries) on the floor near Cole's DVD player. I asked him if he ate all the Craisins.
Cole- "No, Mom. Barley did."
Me- "WHAT?!?"
Cole- "I gave them to her. I like to feed my dog."
Me- "COLE!"
Cole- "I gave her yogurt, too. Is that bad?"
During that exchange and me having to drag Barley downstairs to sleep in the laundry room in case she got sick in the middle of the night, Tate woke up. I went back into his room for not more than 5 minutes. When I came back out, Cole had found some silver glitter in the drawer of the armoire, and was proceeding to dump it out all in the drawer.

But don't worry. After all of that, I got to *sleep* with a restless 4 year-old, underneath a bright nightlight of stars from a Twilight Turtle, and next to a giant stuffed cheetah and a monster truck.
How I love our husbands! They are much appreciated! Oh Cole!
ReplyDeleteI want a husband/father! Oh wait... I get one NEXT WEEK! I've always thought that glitter belonged in a better place, as I have been tempted to play with it myself while staying in that room!
