Today was the last real day of school for Cole. He will have Field Day next week, but for all intents and purposes he is a SECOND GRADER. The First Grade class awards and field trip to the zoo were today.
This little man was given the "Glowing Example" Award!
Cole sets a great example for his friends. Perhaps not a great example of how to stay in your seat all day... but she said he was "a great example of keeping up with his work, turning things in on time, doing what is asked of him, and being prepared." GO COLE-MAN!
Cole's friend, CJ, got the Math Whiz Award, Breckin got the Reading Ace Award, Dylan got the Sports Fanatic Award, Jett got the Fun and Flexible Award, Savannah got the Creative Juices award, Julianna the Sweetheart Award, and so on...
Mrs. Smith had a little prize for each award and Cole's was a set of glow sticks :) She also gave the kids beach pails & shovels filled with candy, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and some workbooks for the summer. Love her.
After the in-class awards, we headed off to the zoo, which was CRAZY. I am glowing with sweat after chasing after these boys all morning. The kids had fun, and it was a good reward for all of their hard work this year.

We love the kids in this class (and the other class). Cole said today to Mrs. Smith, "I can't come back next year to see you because I am movin' on up to Second Grade!" I think she just meant she wanted him to come by and say 'hi' ;)
We are ready for summer around here! Cole made this painting, which says:
"I am going to the beach with my cusunes [cousins] and unkle Huntr [Uncle Hunter] and unte Calu [Aunt Kayla.]" Ummm, perhaps we have some spelling to work on before we move on up to Second Grade in three months!
So proud of our son setting a good example and being organized and prepared. We are proud of all of his hard work this year, and love him to pieces!
And not to be left out... Tater Mater received a great review from his 2-YO Class Teacher yesterday. He knows all of his colors, letters, numbers, sorting, etc. and is right on track. She is also amazed at his coordination and physicality. He will be moving on up to the 3-YO Class this summer, where he will spend 3 days a week.
Ashley gave us these hand-me-down shorts of Braxton's yesterday, and the first thing Tate did when we got home was tear off his cute polo and navy shorts and put on his basketball shorts. He says they make him go faster. He doesn't need any help in that department :)
Cole is SO awesome and I am sure his type A parents help him in the organizational area! :) Love how clothing makes the little boys "go faster." Sawyer got new shoes and told me he was now the fastest in his class.
