Edgar Allen Poe

Yesterday was the First Grade Poetry Tea - a read-aloud presentation and brunch in celebration of Mothers' Day.

Tate joined us because he had been a little sick, and he wasn't too happy in this photo but he did great at the tea.  When we arrived, Cole showed us to our seats and then the First Graders each served their moms/grandmothers.  Cole took our order and brought us our plates, pulled out my chair, and was the ultimate gentleman.

He presented me with a book of poetry, and here was the photo on the cover:

A few excerpts from the book:

The one above is my favorite. Apparently spaghetti and brownies are my favorites (note: these are both Cole's faves), we need to get out of town more (Wal-Mart and Taco Bell are decidedly NOT my faves), and I like to watch the news (this one is true!). At least I look a year younger than I am. ;)

Each student took turns on stage reading an original poem, and here is Cole's "Football" poem:

The entire First Grade also recited two of their favorite class poems.
Cole, Dylan, and Jett

Cole's class being silly (Cole missed the memo)

Every Day I am thankful to be the BAST mom I can be to these active, smart, kind, handsome little men. ;)

Happy early Mothers' Day to me! And Happy Early Mothers' Day to our moms and grandmothers and sisters-in-law. We love you!
