1. What’s your variety of apple?
Honeycrisp
2. Do you prefer Long-English or Field cucumbers?
3. Tomatoes – Delicious or disgusting?
4. What’s one fruit or vegetable that you can’t stand and why is that?
Mushrooms. They are nasty, squishy, slimy, and 'off' shades of brown.
5. What’s your favourite way to prepare veggies? (Grilled, boiled, roasted, sautéed, etc.)
6. Sweet potato pie: Love it or hate it?
Love it. And speaking of sweet potatoes... this is "Letter V" week at Cole's school, and his class has "vegetable visitors" coming on Thursday. I present to you, Cole's homemade Vegetable Visitor (and his owl buddy... don't ask because I don't know):
7. What’s your favourite “style” of French fry? Wedges, shoelace, curly, crinkle-cut or other?
All of the above. I may not have a sweet tooth, but I make up for it by eating my weight in fries every year.
8. What’s your favourite fruit-pie filling?Blueberry. On another note, I love the British spellings of some words. I think I'll start incorporating them into my own writing.
9. When you were a kid did your parents make you sit at the table until all your veggies were eaten off your plate?
I think so, but I don't recall actually being forced to eat. My dad is a really good cook, and my mom doesn't like mushrooms either, so it was never an issue.
10. Do you drink veggie & fruit juice blends (such as V8, etc.) or make them yourself?
As a family we've really tried to cut back altogether on fruit juice, except the occasional glass of orange juice as a treat. I give the boys 100% fruit/veggie drink boxes (diluted with water for Tate), or flavored water. That's what 6 cavities in a 5 year-old will do to you. Apparently the glasses of orange juice and chocolate milk at breakfast weren't good for his teeth. At least Lightning Sweet Potato has some pearly whites.
Long, english cucumbers are the best- never bitter...only ones I buy!
ReplyDeleteMushrooms are my favourite so I hope we have lots to eat in Taos. The colours are so earthy and lovely. Maybe we can enjoy with a spot of tea and crumpets.
