Groundhog Nightmare

You've heard of Groundhog Day, right?  The days or times when things seem to repeat over and over, exactly the same way.  Well, on Sunday evening we had a groundhog nightmare.  Tate got really sick at his stomach fast. So fast, in fact, that in less than 2 hours he was completely lethargic and non-responsive.  We hopped in the car and rushed him to the ER.

He was hospitalized at 2 weeks old for pnemonia and RSV... not this again!

We did not have time to go to Tyler to our usual hospital and pediatrician. We stayed at the hospital in town and the ER doc and on-call pediatrician were wonderful.  The staff was also great.

Turns out that our sweet boy was completely dehydrated from a stomach virus.  After a blown IV, and two other IV sticks, we got fluids in him and he immediately got more responsive. We were admitted and stayed overnight.

This is Tate early this morning, feeling much better.

Amazingly, even after being so, so sick at his stomach, he still weighed a whopping 18.5 pounds (and is 27 inches long).

A very special thanks to the Peacocks for keeping Cole overnight for us, and to the Dawsons and Durretts for having their connections at the hospital make sure that Tate was well taken care of. We love our "friend family" (as Kelley calls our group)!

  1. Oh, Lindsay. I'm so glad he's better. I know it was so scary. I think Tate looks JUST like Cole in that top picture.

  2. Poor little guy!! Glad he's doing better. We had a middle of the night ER visit with Delaney once and it was awful (probably more for me than it was for her). They did the IV in her arm and it looked like she was wearing a cast. :-( It's so scary when something like that happens. So glad there was a relatively quick fix!
