Ready for the Week

I did not think I would ever say on a Sunday afternoon that I was ready for the week, but  I think we're all looking forward to our usual routine this week.

We started off Friday night at Relay for Life, a race to raise money for cancer, at the local high school field. Then we left before 7:00 am on Saturday for a quick trip to Houston. I got to go to a baby shower for my friend, Shelbi, and her baby boy to be, Dillon.  I also saw my friend Connie and her daughter, Brooklyn.  Brooklyn was born the day after Tate.  It was a short visit at the shower and I got zero pictures.

I will spare you all the details (and spare myself from re-living it), but Houston traffic, parks, stores, and restaurants were a NIGHTMARE.  Basically every decision we made, other than to see our friends, turned out badly.

We took Cole to the Museum of Natural Science and History:

He liked the lions,

the shell collection,

the gems and minerals,

and the crocodile, of course!

Tate was his usual fussy self

Finally on Saturday afternoon we made it to Konor & Kristi's house.  I think they thought a tornado hit when we came in with all of our stuff and two boys (& two parents) who were ready to get out of the car!  We had a great time with them.

Here is Kristi getting some practice in before their bundle of joy arrives in October

On the way back we were talking about how crazy Houston was. We both said we were ready to be back home... until we drove through Palestine and saw a 1995 Camaro painted in camouflage.

Only in East Texas.
