Today was the appointment for Tate's 4 month check-up and shots. We went to the doctor and he smiled and giggled at the nurse while she put him on the scale. He's a short, tubby one, weighing in at 15 lbs., 10 oz. (55%) and measuring 24.75 inches (35%). His head circumference is 16.5 (33%). This is so much different from tall and lanky Cole.
We loved seeing Dr. Munda until... she showed me Tate's ears, which are badly infected. She noted in the chart that he was completely asymptomatic. No fever. No fussiness. But a puss pocket in his right ear. WHY ME?! WHY ME?!
She then said that both Cole and Tate have DEFECTIVE EUSTACHIAN TUBES. And where did they inherit those? From me. Not only did they get my good looks, my brilliant intellect, my fantastic wit, and my charming personality... but my defective PE tubes as well.
No shots for Tate today. We have to put those off for two weeks, which means he will be 5 months old for his 4 month shots. Good grief.
Meanwhile, I missed Cole's end of the year party at school because of the escapades at the pediatrician with Tate. His teacher sent me some pictures she took on her cell phone (so they are not really clear).
Now, do these boys really seem defective?
I think not.
Defective is definitely not the word I would use!
