We went to Meet the Teacher on Monday. Here are Cole and Mrs. Brashier:
She has a Summer/Luau theme in her room this year :)
[You know I had to beg Cole to put on this prop that she had so she could snap a picture for her classroom - he wanted nothing to do with dressing up in the lei or hula skirt!]
A lot of his BFFs are in another class this year, but he is happy his sweet friend Jett is in his class. He is not upset about his other friends because he was so excited that he got Mrs. Brashier for a teacher! She is very sweet, and he knows her from prior Speech Meet activities because she is the assistant speech coach. Seriously, we have the very BEST teachers at Brook Hill.
A little treat for her on Meet the Teacher day - a gift card for a milkshake/treat at Sonic.
At Meet the Teacher, Mrs. Brashier passed out gift sacks for the kids and asked them to return the sacks filled with 5 things about them. The rules were only that they could not bring a live animal and they had to be able to talk about their items to the class.
Cole's Items:
1. Metal Detecting Treasure Box
2. Field Guide (Favorite book)
3. Speech Meet ribbon
4. Piano trophy
5. Lego Jet Ski
He chose these all by himself right when we got home from Meet the Teacher, and didn't ask me for input (and wouldn't have listened to me anyway - ha!). Love this creative thinking, independent, decisive SECOND GRADER!
Look at the handsome little man who has his picture up permanently in the main hallway at BH (upper right-hand corner). I'm not sure who made Breckin, Cole, and Dylan look angelic, but I'd be plastering that up on the walls, too :)
Hope Cole-Man has a great year, and survives the roughly two hours of homework a night that we know is coming.
I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN...
*A little update at the end of the day: Cole had a great day, said, "Mrs. Brashier is awsome" and "Second Grade is the best grade of them all." Cole, Braxton, and DG enjoyed a little cookie cake treat I brought them at pick-up. :) I am thankful for a wonderful school and wonderful teachers. And, we only had one page of phonics homework for the first day! ;)

Happy 1st Day of 2nd Grade, Cole! What a post! Love all of this - thank you for sharing. We love & miss you all!
