Getting Schooled

I feel like every parent of a little boy just counts down the days from when he is born until the day...
he can mow the yard!!

Wait, maybe that was just us?! ;)

Cole-Man did a great job, earned a little allowance and some work ethic along the way.  He is saving for a new Lego set.  A lesson in earning and saving money that can't be taught in a classroom.

We did let him cool off after that hard labor.

And Little Man Tate got in some swim time, too.  Here he is with Saige.

Their school was closed on Friday, so these two sweet friends played at the Westbooks' house and fed the cows, swam at our house, and then visited their friend Turner's lemonade stand (with proceeds benefiting the mom of their summer teacher, who is currently undergoing treatment at MD Anderson for Multiple Myeloma -- we were happy to support the lemonade stand and also make a donation at a local bank where an account has been set up to help her).

Sweet, sweet friends - this picture that Destiny took makes my heart full.

This was just a fun little selfie shot from earlier in the week on the way to school.  We sent this to Mike because he was out of town, and I'm posting it because he will check this blog while he is gone again this week.

This is a completely random shot, but so funny. Tate has on Cole's boxers. The same ones Cole has on. They are 4.5 years apart. They have the same size waist. OMGosh!

Finally, we wrapped up a relaxing weekend with Blessing of the Backpacks at church.  They don't actually bless the bags, but the angel-faced children and teachers that carry them. [The boys toward are in the bottom left corner, and you can barely see Tate's head behind Cole.]

Cole will start week #3 of school tomorrow, and Tate will start in the PreK-3 class at Methodist Readiness School.  He will have Ms. Ruth for a teacher, and is happy his friends Saige, Andrew, and Neeley will be in his class.
2014-2015 school year: BRING IT ON!
