Red, White and Blue Festival

Yesterday was the annual Red, White, and Blue Festival and parade in Bullard in honor of Veterans' Day.  As part of the Festival, the Bullard Chamber of Commerce held a poster contest for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades from Bullard ISD and Brook Hill.

Here is Cole's entry:

He worked very hard on this and was tired of writing at the end, he said :)  I think it turned out great! He won Second Place for his grade.

All the posters were displayed at the Festival, but I was really disappointed in the number of entries.  The contest was voluntary and there were only a handful of posters from each grade.  I feel sad that more parents did not encourage their students to participate.  Honoring our veterans is much more important than some of the other voluntary art projects the schools organize. Cole learned a lot about the veterans in our family by making this poster.  Okay, getting off my soap box...

The boys has a GREAT time watching the parade and Cole enjoyed few festival rides, too.

Happy Veterans' Day to all veterans and THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice. I'm especially grateful my brother, Hunter, is home from service to actually be at the birth of his second son... this week, let's hope! ;)
