For our last trip of the summer before school starts, the boys and I headed to the Texas Hill Country. A happy place for all of us.
*Fair warning -- picture overload*
We started our visit in Austin with Meredith and her two boys. Since Meredith moved to San Diego years ago, we've only seen each other a few times and the boys only first met last December for just a few short hours. Words cannot express how happy I was to have time to catch up with my oldest friend (as in, we've known each other since we were 2!) and have our boys laugh and play. We were so busy swimming, playing baseball, and talking that I only snapped a few pics. :/
Cole (6), John John (5), Will (3), and Tate (2)
We even snuck in a dinner with another dear friend, Summer. Or Sunny. ;)
Next stop was the LBJ State Park and Historical Site in Stonewall.
We missed getting to see Summer's three kids because she met us after work, but I'm so glad we were able to at least sneak in a visit with her. (Photo credit below goes to Cole - not too bad!)
Next stop was the LBJ State Park and Historical Site in Stonewall.
We went to an old German living farm from the early 1900's. This was SO COOL. The boys had a blast chasing chickens and learning about farm life a century ago.
We left Stonewall and went to the Airport in Fredericksburg for milkshakes at the Diner and to watch the planes take off and land. Someone was enamored. And maybe Tate was, too ;)
When we arrived in Comfort, the boys were greeted by... fish!
Tate's first cane pole
And Tate's first fish!!
Cole is his Papa Jim's fishing buddy, and they even went out catfishing one evening just by themselves. This boy LOVES to fish. LOVES.
The boys loved fishing so much that we went to Joshua Park outside Waring, TX the next day and fished some more. Tate was never too sure about the wiggly little sunfish, but he loved digging for and stretching the worms.
I am so glad I have a step-dad, dad, husband, and brother that all love to fish so these boys can have their fill!
I'm saving Part 2 and even more pictures for another post later this week.
We had the best time in the Hill Country with friends and family, but missed our sweet hubby/Dad and are glad to be back with him. This trip was a great end to the summer for the boys and me.

Wow, Linds - love all of these photos!!! We so enjoyed the time with Cole, Tate and you! We love you all! xoxo
