Cabanas and Monsoons - Port A Vacay 2013: Part 1

This past week was our annual summer trip with the Andres.  We were crazy and decided to fit in seeing and doing as much as humanly (not) possible.  We started with a nice visit in San Marcos and enjoyed relaxing and visiting for a few days.

Then we went on pre-vacation. That's right - Chris and Katy invited us to join them at a resort in San Antone.  We farmed our our kids to Mimi and Papa Jim (THANK YOU for keeping the little monsters!)

We met the Andres and actually had a drink and a visit. While sitting down. Not chasing toddlers.  And enjoyed this view:

Then we rented a cabana.

Then an hour later we watched the monsoon come in.  Since when does it rain in Central Texas?? In July??

Despite the crummy weather for laying by the pool, we were thankful for the rain for SA and ate some great food... not to mention drinks. HELLO Jalapeno-Prickly Pear Martinis!

Mom and Jim took the boys to a dinosaur exhibit at the Witte Museum.

The little paleontologists got to dig for fossils; Cole was able to ride a bike on a high wire;

and they climbed in the world's largest tree house!

Cole also fished with Papa Jim, his all time favorite thing to do, and Tate fed deer off the back porch.

We picked up the boys, enjoyed a quick lunch with Mom, Jim, and Mamaw, and then drove down to Port Aransas in the still ongoing monsoon. 3 different beds in 5 nights was insane.  But just wait...  Part 2: The Beach to follow.
