We celebrated Easter this year with some of our framily -- friends who are like family!
We started off the morning with the annual hunt...
The bunny left candy-filled eggs, Peeps, new Lego sets, and new books for these two munchkins... who put together their Lego sets before church! Crazy fast builders.
After church, we had the Peacocks and the Durretts over for Easter lunch and what turned out to be an all-day and all-night celebration! We named it #epicEaster because we had the BEST time.
The set-up: kids table
and the bigger kids table ;)
The spread consisted of fruit salad, deviled eggs, spinach salad,
beef tenderloin, twice baked potatoes, roasted asparagus, broccoli & cauliflower casserole, green bean bundles, and strawberry-cream cheese pie and Peeps pudding cups for dessert.
It's nice to be friends with cooks.
After lunch, the clouds parted, the sun came out shining, and the kids jumped in the {VERY COLD} pool.
Ashley brought a fun egg pinata, and the kids (and Sammie) had fun hitting it and raking in more candy.
Everyone had a blast, and we stayed up late talking and playing (no school yesterday, but I think the daddies were probably dragging into work - ha!).
At least, we thought we were happy there was no school...
#epicEaster turned into #AwfulTerribleNoGoodVeryBadMonday.
On Good Friday, we went fishing out at the lake. We had lots of nibbles, and Cole caught a bass!
Fast forward to Sunday afternoon and Tate jumps out of the hot tub and shows us a tick... in his navel. Ashley, a nurse, and Mike, couldn't get it out. EEK!!! I have no idea how long it had been in there. I'm thinking he picked it up at the lake, but it could have been from our yard down by the creek when the guys and boys played baseball after Easter lunch. So, Monday started with a trip to the emergency clinic to have the tick's head removed. So far, no sign of infection [fingers crossed!].
After leaving the clinic, we went to get my car washed, where Cole dropped my phone and shattered the glass screen as he was helping me vacuum out the car. We moved on to the grocery store, where Tate had a melt down, and then came home to a house fly infestation inside. Two hours of Windexing the flies later, we killed most of them. Two minutes after that, Tate was stung by a wasp. We ended this great day being late to soccer practice. (As a side note, kick master Tate scored his first goal and only one of two goals for our team on Saturday!!)
Needless to say, I wanted to go back to sleep and wake back up on Sunday :) I have to remind myself on days like yesterday that we are blessed beyond measure. These little loves and that handsome hubby are the light of my life, and we have the most amazing friends and family.
Happy #epicEaster from our fam to yours.
xoxo,
Lindsay
