On Fire

We've had some fun and busy weekends lately, starting out with the 2016 David Karp Piano Festival and Competition.

Little Maestros Landon R., Braxton, Cole, and Landon H.

The competition takes place behind closed doors, so I had to listen to Cole through the doors. I recorded him practicing the other night, so here is "Fire Dance" arranged by David Karp and performed by Cole.

He played even better than this at competition, and it sounded better on their in-tune baby grand ;)  He competed by memory without his sheet music and scored a Superior First Place blue ribbon! Only the top 6 Superior Ribbon earners make it to the Final Concert to compete before David Karp himself.  Cole did not make it this year, but our sweet friend, Gracie Dawson (who is in Fourth Grade), competed with the same song as Cole and she did make it to the concert. Cole put in a TON of work for competition this year, so we were thrilled with his Superior rating!

Last Monday, Christmas came in April for Mike and Brian as they had seats to one of the most exciting NCAA basketball final games ever!  Both teams were on fire! Mike was pulling for Villanova, so he was thrilled for the buzzer-beating three-pointer to win the game for the Wildcats.

Reagan and I surprised the guys with the tickets for Christmas, and they said they had a blast. They even stood front-row for a pre-game Pat Green concert! These two hard-working hubbies/daddies deserved to check something off their Bucket Lists this year.

We are still in the throws of spring soccer, and the Strikers are having a blast! The two bookends on this photo (Drew and Tate) are killing it! We tied on Saturday, 2-2, but we'll take that over a loss. Tate did a great job defending this game.

And he loves hanging out at practice and games with one of his oldest friends, Andrew, because they aren't at the same school anymore.

We ended this past weekend with a kid-free Skeet Shoot and Fish Fry at the W6  (the Westbrooks' place). We had so much fun.

Ash, Destiny, me, Jill, Shana, Kelley, Nat

Lots of friendly competition :)

Ready. Aim. Pull. FIRE!

Burton, Brad, Von, Mike, Drew, Nick, Wes

Mike was definitely a better shot than me, but I did win at the Washers pit later on in the night. You know a good West Texas transplant knows how to throw washers ;)

We ended the weekend with lunch at a Mexican food dive with the Ouztses, and a trip out to the lake to check on the progress at LeeverBerry Lake Cottage.  I thankful everyday for an amazing group of friends, and for these two cuties [on Spring Picture Day a/k/a A Break From School Uniform Day].
