The New Adventures of the Old Stansberrys

Okay, so maybe we're not "old," but let's face it, two of us aren't young either.  As we venture into this #luckynumber13 year of marriage, we are starting out on new adventures.  WE BOUGHT A LAKE HOUSE!

By "lake house," I mean lake fixer-upper.  But, we are thrilled and have already put in countless hours clearing the almost 2 acre-property with 170 feet of water frontage.  The house is a two-bedroom, with open kitchen/great room that looks out onto the lake.  We have a big deck that is in pretty good shape, and our contractor starts next week on upgrades inside.

The boys put on their "work" clothes and pitched in last weekend.

But they mainly ran around and played "guns" with the tree limbs we were clearing and fished.  Isn't this supposed to be what life is all about?! :)

I think I'm going to like this new adventure.

Tate had his first school musical on Tuesday.
GQ status with Aiden and Brooks.

The second and third graders also had a performance.  Pre-K'ers: CUTE. Third Graders: not so much. ;) But, we had an Easter-preview in our dress clothes.

Speaking of Easter, Tate's class had a party yesterday.  Cole's class had three tests, but did get an afternoon break to hide eggs for the Kindergartners!

Tate nailed the egg hunt! Here, with friend Hetcher.

Another new thing this Spring? Soccer for our little athlete.  He's loving it, and killing it, of course.

And, so as not to give ourselves ANY free time, Cole is playing baseball and the little is playing T-ball, too.

That's Mondays for Cadet Singers (Cole), Art Academy (Tate), soccer practice (Tate). Tuesdays for baseball practice (Cole). Wednesdays for speech (Tate), piano (Cole), t-ball practice (Tate). Thursdays for baseball practice (Cole). Fridays for piano (Cole).  Saturdays for soccer games (Tate), and afternoons and Sundays at the lake! Baseball games start in three weeks, so we'll basically be living at the ball fields.

I'm tired.

On top of all the extracurricular activities, Cole managed to earn himself a Scholarly Achievement award at the Honors Assembly last week, and also received a Certificate for completing a computer coding class in library. Proud of our hard worker!

As fun as all of this is, I'm looking forward to school ending for the year and enjoying a more relaxing time this summer on the lake or in the pool.

As we watched this first (of many) sunsets on deck last weekend, we reminded both kids and ourselves how blessed we are.  Life's not perfect, but it's a little closer now.
