After the sob story from the last post, I had to share a little update about the 36 hours from 7:30 this morning to 7:30 tomorrow night to keep it real on the blog. Here goes...
Wednesday, August 26, 2015
7:30 am - pack lunches, get two whining boys dressed in chapel dress, load up for the day
8:00 am - drive to Tyler for piano
8:30 am - piano lesson in Tyler
9:00 am - rush out the door to drive back to Bullard
9:15 am - drop the boys at school
9:30 am - head back up to Tyler for optometrist appointment
10:00 am - optometrist tells me I have scratched my cornea as a result of my contact rubbing against allergy build-up in my eyes
10:45 am - new contacts, new steroid eye drops, schedule two return appointments over the next two weeks
11:00 am - swing by Chick-fil-A to get gift card for Cole's Brook Hill football player
11:15 am - drive back to Jacksonville and cram in some work
2:15 pm - drive back to Bullard to pick up kids
3:30 pm - drive back to Jacksonville, help with homework, cook dinner, clean up, do laundry, unpack lunches, repack lunches
7:29 pm - ask Cole to go water the flowers outside
7:30 pm - Cole stung by a wasp or bee in the back of the head, runs inside screaming and crying
7:40 pm - after I put ice on him, I go out to see if I can see what stung him (he's been stung by a red wasp and yellow-jackets before, but never a bee so I wanted to be sure it wasn't something I needed to watch for an allergic reaction)
7:41 pm - I am stung by something (same wasp/bee)
7:42 pm - I run in screaming about the mad wasp and put ice on my shoulder
8:00 pm - call Mike to tell him about wasp; he is sensitive, but he's fishing and drinking beer in South Texas on a work trip
8:01 pm - decide Weekend Mike is no help 9 hours away, so we hang up
8:02 pm - put toothpaste on the sting on Cole's head and shove some Motrin down him
8:40 pm - both kids in bed, but Cole will be sleeping with me just so I can keep an eye on him, which means I'll have a knee in my back all night; oh, and I'll be smelling toothpaste on my pillows
10:30 pm - I can only hope to be asleep, but it will probably be more like 11:30
Thursday, August 27, 2015

3:20 pm - drive back to Jacksonville, do homework, study for 27-word spelling test for Cole, written Bible memory verse test for Cole, and oral Bible memory verse test for Tate, piano practice for Cole which didn't get done on Wed night because of angry wasp
6:30 pm - drive BACK to Bullard for football game/Guard Dogs on field for the first game... on a school night!
7:30 pm - game time
who knows when - drive back home to Jacksonville, get kids in bed, get ready for Friday morning drop off
You have to listen to me whine because you are my blog readers :) And even days like these are worth it for these boys. Tate is rockin' at school and has made the top mark or next to the top mark in conduct every day so far. Cole hasn't received a negative tally so far. No good tallies either, but we'll call that a win! His teacher says he brings "lots of joy" to the room.
Cole also brought home the highest grade in class on a math pre-test (where they haven't been over the material yet in class; the pre-test grade doesn't count, but gives the teacher an idea of what they know), and a 96 on his first graded test. Meanwhile, Tate confused the letter "C" with the letter "H" on a homework page...
I'll be pouring myself another glass of wine now.
