Happy Hill Country Easter

We traveled (separately, but that's another story) to San Marcos this weekend to see the boys' Baca and Grandpa for Easter. We had a packed, but super-fun weekend.

The boys, the dog, and I arrived on Friday afternoon and we went with Peggy to the Texas State Nature Center f/k/a Aquarena Springs.

We took a ride on the glass-bottom boats through the San Marcos River portion of the Edwards Aquifer, and saw the springs, lots of fish, turtles, and more.

We then walked out over the marsh and saw a blue heron and more turtles.  It was a beautiful day, and the kids loved it!

Mike arrived late Friday and on Saturday morning we went to the San Marcos Regional Airport and CAF Museum.

And we just sat out on the tarmac and watched airplanes for a while. Be still my heart.

While Mike and I braved the outlet malls for a few hours, Peggy braved Wonder World with both boys on Saturday afternoon.  The boys went in a cave underground, had fun in an anti-gravity exhibit, rode a train and fed animals, and took a ride to the top of the tallest tower in town for a gorgeous Hill Country view.

Easter morning was early. Very early.  It was dark when we started hunting eggs, and that was after making Cole wait 30 minutes inside first!!

Someone found the Golden Egg, filled with $20.  I'm bringing an Easter basket to next year's hunt.

Baca and Grandpa also had CUTE baseball and Dusty the Plane Easter baskets for the boys inside after the hunt, so they raked it in as usual!

We enjoyed a wonderful service at First Lutheran in SM, and enjoyed flowering of the cross and seeing lots of old family friends.  Happy Easter from our family to you!

It was a whirlwind weekend and, as always, we wished we lived closer.  The Hill Country was fun, but we are glad to get back home. Now, who is going to come help me ration this candy out to Mike and Tate?!?! That's right, Mike and Tate. ;)
