For Cole's birthday, we gave him a newly re-decorated room. He had been sleeping in a custom-made bulldozer bed and construction-themed room since he was 3. He has outgrown the "theme" room, and it was time for a change. I wanted something that would last longer than four years this time so we decided on classic colors, patterns, furniture, and accessories without an actual "theme."
Here are a couple of "before" pictures:
And now, for the big reveal:
The boys have also asked to share a room. We have plenty of space for them to have their own rooms, but like the idea they want to share for a while. We tried moving Tate into the shared room already: disaster! He talked all night and kept Cole up. So, we moved him back to his room and will try again when he is older and can keep his mouth shut ;) The boys still ask to sleep in the shared room every night, so we will move Tate soon enough.
I love the "brother" definition sign from Pottery Barn Kids. The boys love the small mounted stag horns above chair in the corner that I found at a cute shop in Boerne.
The prints are from a vintage Texas Tech football calendar we received for Christmas last year.
We ordered the solid pine full-size beds from a store owned by one of Cole's classmates' grandparents, and her grandfather stained them for us. We wanted them to be similar, but not identical because we will move Tate's bed into his own room eventually (he is sleeping in a toddler bed right now). I love how they turned out. The center apothecary-style table is from World Market and the cute brass table lamp from Target.
We already had this U.S. map. The bedding is all from Pottery Barn Teen - solid navy with small pin stripe on the reverse side. The letters are from Hobby Lobby that Kelley picked up for me about a year ago - I'm glad I finally hung them!
Finally, I found this cute chalkboard on clearance at Kohl's. I think I lettered it just perfect for this new cave!
Happy birthday, Cole-Man. Again.
I live in the same area and would love to know the store you got the beds from. I'm looking for solid wood piece of furniture and struggling to find something.
ReplyDeleteHi, Amanda! We got them at The Wood Shed in Tyler. They have some pieces in stock but have a lot of catalogs you can look through with pieces at all different price points. We ordered these beds because they were not carried in stock. Everything they carry or order is solid wood. They will stain or paint for you if you want them to. We looked for solid beds at local furniture stores and were disappointed in the selection. I highly recommend The Wood Shed.
