Snakes, Cakes, and Wind...?!

Cole's 6th birthday party was at a Wildlife Museum and outside park/playground in Tyler.  Let me start by saying the weather was horrible. 52 degrees, on and off sprinkles, and WINDY. Like West Texas windy. And no one knew it was going to be so terrible. Most of all weather.com ;)

Oh, my. Not how I dialed it in.

 

 

But we persevered.  The AMAZING snake cake by our baker, Mandy.  The kids fought over who would get the piece with the snake's head.  I gave it to the birthday boy but as is his kind nature, he gave it to a friend who really wanted it! Love my boy.  (You can see the tablecloth blowing up in the wind, despite the fact that we had it tied and taped down.)

 

 We had about 10 Kindergarten boys (and a couple of sweet siblings) at the party. It was great for this setting!. The boys loved this merry-go-round.  The parents realized why they stopped making these things!! S.C.A.R.Y.

It was way too windy to light the candles, but Cole was a good sport and a good actor :)



 

After we ate scarfed down some food, we went inside to warm up for the museum tour.

 

 

And when we wore out our welcome inside, it was time to head back out to open gifts and play some more.

 

We could not have done this party without Baca (and good friends) to help watch Tate and clean up the tables before everything blew away.

 

For favors, we had elk-stamped muslin bags filled with animal print neon sunglasses, wild animal pencils and sharpeners, and some lollipops for everyone (I had to tuck the favor tag into the basket because of the wind.).

The weather is unpredictable in October: this isn't July.  But the kids made the best of it, and most importantly, Cole said he had a GREAT time.  Happy Birthday, Cole-man! We love you.
