My Hearts

Valentine's Day 2016

So, Mike and I have never celebrated Valentine's Day because of all the other big events we have this month, but it was fun to party with the boys this year.  We did simple cards this year, but I thought everything turned out cute. Tate wanted to give chocolate (of course he did) to his classmates, so we wound up with heart chocolates and Super Hero cards -->

Cole opted for Star Wars. No surprise there, either. We taped good Ticonderoga pencils and pixie stick light sabers to his cards for the Third Graders.

Tate's class made their Valentine sacks in class (thank GOD we had one less project!), so we just had to make a box for Cole (thank GOD for Pinterest).  Here is a Star Wars wookie made from a milk carton -->

I did most of the work because it involved hot gluing a million popsicle sticks onto the carton, but Cole did spray paint it. I thought it turned out really cute cool.

I hosted the party in Cole's class (his class had a sub and a lot of the parents who usually help were out of town), so I missed a lot of Tate's party. Unfortunately, they were at the exact same time. I did run down the hall back and forth countless times so I could at least be there to help Tate hand out his Valentines. Here is the Third Grade spread -->

Jett, Beck, and Cole. They were the life of the party for sure :)

Tate's Pre-K class went to a retirement/nursing home in Tyler and passed out handmade Valentine cards and socks on Friday morning before their class party.  The youngest generation visiting the greatest generation. One of the residents is the mom of Cole's First Grade teacher, Mrs. Smith, who we LOVE.  It just warmed my heart to hear that Mrs. Smith's mom loved the visit from these sweet babies.

Tate hopped a ride with one of his new BFFs, Brooks, to the retirement home and back. Seriously, how CUTE are they?!

Cookies and fruit in Pre-K :)

And Tate's teacher is SO awesome that she had these photos and cards made for all the kids' moms. I'm sitting at my desk looking at that sweet blowing kiss picture right now. Mrs. Haugh is wonderful!! [Clearly Tate wasn't  too into this card because his coloring, which is usually amazing, is sloppy, but I love it anyway!]

We had beautiful weather the past few days, so the boys played [shoeless] baseball,

and spent Valentine's Day in a tent in the backyard. Little Loves.

Saturday morning, there was a special event downtown where the stores and merchants were open and the streets were closed down for shopping and music.  It is called "Catfish Row," and is now happening once a month. The boys and I hit up the flower market and grabbed these beauties, and then went to the coffee truck for an organic chai tea latte and hot cocoa with toasted marshmallows. The entire family, including Sammie, ate lunch at the downtown food truck park, and then we went out to Lake Jacksonville.  A SPLENDID small town Saturday!

Valentine's Day morning started off with a surprise breakfast for these two,

and ended with Kelley bringing by white tulips for me. Life is pretty great when you have two healthy kids, a handsome hubby, and one of your best friends knows EXACTLY your favorite bud and brings you a dozen "just because."

Now, if someone will just send the plumber to come fix the giant hole in our pipe under the kitchen sink and install a new disposer, life would be complete.
Until then, I remain, your faithful servant washing dishes in the laundry room sink,
Lindsay
