Mavericks

I will never forget the first time I flew on a private plane.  My grandparents took me with them in a chartered plane from Odessa to Corpus Christi to pick up my cousins and bring them back to Odessa for a week during the summer.  I was probably around 8 or 9.  Fast forward 29 years and... Cole is  blessed to have a similar experience.  The wonderful people at Dr. Pepper invited some of the executives from Mike's office to a Maverick's game in Dallas on Friday.  Drew and Mike took these two lucky little boys and BFFs along for the ride.

Ignore the gumball that makes him look like a cow chewing cud... notice THE FLOOR SEATS!

Dr. Pepper has a suite at American Airlines Center, and the boys made themselves right at home playing air hockey and drinking... Dr. Pepper, of course.  Cole's first [we don't typically do carbonated drinks for the boys, so what a fun first time to try one!].

Tate and I held down the home front, and of course wathced the game.  Who did we see?! Look at the four handsome devils in the press box. [Do you see how the older BFFs are sitting the exact same way?! - HAHAHA!]

Not only did Mike and Cole sit courtside for the Mavs game just feet away from Dirk Nowitzki, but THEY MET TONY ROMO! I know this pic is blurry, but I had to share.

He autographed Cole's Dr. P hat and his program.

So, I'm pretty sure these two were the luckiest and the handsomest young men at the game.

It was a late night, but they flew back out of Love Field so that Brax could make it to his basketball game Saturday morning.  Cole's team, the Warriors, played Saturday evening, but lost this game.  They played hard and fair, and you can't win them all.  Even the Mavs lost. :(

Not to worry... Tate was proudly watching the game and cheering... until he saw Mike and Cole on television and realized HE wasn't at the game with them ;) [Minor Major Meltdown.]

Luckily, I distracted him with talk about his fun day at school.... here he is with his teacher, Mrs. Haugh, in a science experiment to smell different liquids and determine if they were water or something else.  Science in  Pre-K. We love Brook Hill!

I also took him for FROYO when the big guys left for Dallas.

And we played animal matching flashcards on Saturday morning.  All-in-all, a fantastic weekend. Mike and Cole are still on cloud nine, and rightly so.

Now onto work, meetings, events, class Speech Meet tryouts, Cadet Singers Practice, basketball practice, piano lessons, tests.... oh, and we just signed Tate up for Spring soccer and we'll be practicing back up in Bullard.  Because we needed something else on our plates...

No worries, because these smiles make it all worth it. Bring it on!
