The past week (or weeks?? who's counting at this point!?) have been a whirlwind. A tornado of fun, if you will. We missed a visit from the Andres (Mike got sick), but the boys spent Labor Day weekend at the lake, and got in lots of tubing/knee boarding/skiing with the Ouztses.
The Little Brothers celebrated Steele's birthday early because Tate had to miss the actual party. Thanks to Shana and Burton for keeping the boys all day on Labor Day and toting them all up and down the lake! Tate learned to knee board (of course he did), and the Older Brothers had fun trying to knock each other off the tube while being pulled 40 mph across the water. Lord help.
Boys also got in some good times playing games with Johnny. The game Sequence (one of our faves) is Tate's new favorite. I can't believe it, but he's picked it up in just a few times of playing. Cole didn't learn until he was 8!
Mike started feeling better just in time for our trip to Napa with his boss, the CFO, and their wives. It was FAB.U.LOUS.
I actually didn't take many pictures, but the photos don't do it justice anyway. The scenery, the weather, the food, the wine: it's all better in the Napa Valley.
We had private tastings at five wineries over the week, but Terra Valentine was my favorite. It was set on 112 acres upon a hill. The winemaker/proprietor is young, and he stayed and talked with us for a long time. The view on top of Spring Mountain overlooking Napa Valley was gorgeous. And that guy beside me isn't too hard on the eyes, either. ;)
Peggy kept the boys for us all week, which is no easy feat. Not only did she survive the two hooligans, but she managed to get all their homework done and in order, help Cole study to make As on all his tests last week, finish all the laundry... oh, and she hemmed all my living room curtains. SHE HEMMED ALL THE LIVING ROOM CURTAINS.

We returned on Friday night, and left on Saturday morning. Yes, we're that crazy. We drove to Eagle Mountain Lake and then spent the day tailgating at the TCU-Arkansas game in Fort Worth. David Bobo, a friend from back in Odessa, was inducted into the TCU Letterman's Hall of Fame for football. It was great to celebrate with Karly, the boys, and him, plus lots of friends new and old.
We were having such a great time that we "decided" to end the weekend with a bang. I mean a TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, FACE-TRAUMA BANG. :(
Mike took the boys for hot dogs during the game and Tate fell, scraping his head and knee against the hard concrete. Ooooh, I just HATE that this huge scrape is on his face. He was a trooper about it, and wanted to finish watching the game after we left the First Aid tent.
Hoping we can keep this from scarring. YEESH.
After the game, we went back out to the Whytlaws' beautiful lake home on Eagle Mountain Lake, watched more football, and chilled with our friends.
Our schedule might be crazy, jam-packed, super fun, and sometimes stressful, but I wouldn't want to do life any other way or with any other people.
xo,
Linds
