White Sand Beaches and Turquoise Waters

I think I could just leave the title as my only sentiment for this post about our week in Cancun, and you would get the picture.  But... I have a million actual photos to share! [Okay, I seriously have so many photos to share that I am going to keep  my commentary to a minimum. You're welcome.]

Peggy took our family and Clay and Sabina's family with her to Cancun for a week to celebrate her 65th birthday.  We planned the trip long before we lost John and Grandpa Schut (and Barley and Ruby), but it ended up being perfect timing in a year that has turned out to be anything but.

The boys were excited about another plane ride.  Mike and I were excited about pina coladas.

We were all excited for salty water!

The resort we stayed at had a large pool, and then another smaller pool with a water slide.  We took advantage of it all, especially the view :)  This kid owned the cannonball...

and the slide. He must have gone down a thousand times throughout the week. Head first, on his back, on his belly, upside down backwards... and he was the only kid even close to his age swimming without floaties. Rock Star.

Baca was also such a fixture on the slide that other guests noticed and asked her how many times she had gone down :)

We chartered a catamaran mid-week for a snorkeling trip to Isla Mujeres. This is when I made the decision I needed to relocate. [This picture has NO filter. OMG.]

It was the favorite part of the trip for Mike, Cole, and me.  [Tate says his was the slide.] We got to pet a nurse shark, and I had lots of good photos they took of us on the boat, snorkeling, and with the shark.  Apparently I left those in Mexico. #fail

I did, however, take a picture of a photograph of the four of us.

Baca took a book - The Cay - to read to Cole on the trip.  C-Man also finished three books on the trip, including one he read all the way through during a long dinner one night.

Cole was obsessed with beach volleyball. Tate was obsessed with throwing the smaller balls that bounce on water.  Apparently most people on the roof-top pool knew Tate's name after he and Mike spent a couple of hours up there throwing the ball while the rest of us shopped one afternoon.

We took Peggy out to Harry's [HIGHLY RECOMMEND] for her birthday, and dined in style next to Adam Sandler and Kevin James.

Tate ate her special birthday dessert. Are we surprised?!

And one night Baca let the four parents go out to a lobster house for dinner

with a guest...

while she fed the kids, took them to a magic show at the resort, and put them to "sleep."

I'm pretty sure Tate was hanging from the ceiling and Cole was jumping on the bed when we returned from dinner.  The Ladies might have actually been close to going to sleep. ;)

The last day we had a 7-hour flight delay. But, it is Cancun, so we played a little more,

ate some Haagan Dazs (in honor of Mamaw and my friend, Julianna),

and had lunch at our favorite taco bar at the Marina.

We eventually made it home [at 1:00 am - SHOOT ME]. We are all glad to be back in our beds, but whose happy place is not the beach?!

Let's go back! #caribbean2016
