May. That's her middle name.

Meet Maggie.  Or Maggie May.  "May -that's her middle name!" The boys like to say :)

She is (we think) a lab-collie mix rescue puppy.  Or as Tate says when asked what kind she is, "a black one."  We didn't last a week without dog.  We knew we couldn't get another CBR right away, and we are still grieving the loss of Ruby.  So we decided to go the rescue route, and help a little mutt have a good life.  She is a sweet, sweet puppy.  Very mild-mannered, and settling in to life here. The boys just love Maggie!

Friday before we got Maggie, the Second Grade had their Grand Ball, an end-of-the-year event that was the culmination of their Medieval Times unit on fairy-tales.  Here I am with Lord Cole of the Stansberry House.

Lords Beck, Braxton, Cole, Dylan, and Breckin (Lord, help us all!)

We spent this Mother's Day weekend as a family, working outside, playing with the new puppy, playing baseball, and enjoying our time together.  Motherhood is my greatest joy.

Tate drew me some sweet pictures. Cole wondered aloud if he was supposed to do something.  Ha! I did get some hugs and smiles today, so that was all I needed.

Well, that a new wedding band from Mike!

This won't replace my band -- it is a non-heirloom band that I can wear when we travel (to Mexico this summer, and skiing, for example) when I want to leave my bigger solitaire and great-grandmother's wedding band at home.  I wanted a simple band, and he surprised me with a David Yurman band with inlaid diamonds.  He also grilled me a steak dinner and poured lots of wine on Saturday night.
 He's the best.  No, really.

I am so thankful to be a mom, to have been raised by an amazing mom (who is a wonderful Mimi), to know a great mom who raised this man I adore (and who is the best Baca), and to have learned how to handle this motherhood adventure from three great-grandmothers, two grandmothers, and two grandmothers-in-law.  Beyond blessed with strong, loving woman in my family.

"Life doesn't come with an instruction manual.  It comes with a mother."
