What Day?

So.... by now most of you know Mike and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day.  We have both birthdays and our wedding anniversary within a matter of 3 weeks of Valentine's Day.  Regardless, we do celebrate with our Little Loves.

Cole was charged with making his own Valentine's box and taking it to school.  Make that, I was charged with making his box and sending it to school.  He wanted a Lego box, no surprise. I think it turned out GREAT!

I burned myself on the hot glue gun 10 times.  Next year, he's getting a plastic sack.

Tate designed his own sack at school.  Both boys got to pick out their personalized sticker designs and what they wanted to give for valentines to their classmates.

Cole chose an owl sticker (I got a sweet deal on these stickers through a Jane.com promotion).  He wanted to give fun mechanical push pencils and candy.

Tate chose baseball stickers (DUH) and Play-Doh for his friends.

Tate also made homemade cards for lots of teachers and his grandparents.  He loves stickers.  I mean LOVES stickers.  And stamps.  On the cards, on his hands, on my counters, on the dog...

Tate's school also had their annual Bake Sale fundraiser today at a local bank.  I made brownies (LaHonda's recipe - BEST.EVER.), and tied them up with cute twine and cards I designed and printed at home.

We are leaving town to go be with Mike's dad and mom, as his dad isn't doing well at all. Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts.  The journey to this point has been long and taxing, but that's for another post.   John and Peggy (and Mike and Clay and all of us) need support during this time.

I decided to give the boys each a surprise Valentine before we leave.  I usually wouldn't give something bigger like this but... we'll be in the car with them for hours.  Candy, movies, games.  Whatever will keep the hoodlums little love muffins quiet is worth it.

TCU football jersey ($16 on clearance at TJ Maxx - SCORE), Lego Pirates of the Caribbean Nintendo game, and baseball socks for Cole-Man.  Disney plane toy and Jake and the NeverLand Pirates movie for Tate.  [Apparently we like pirates in this house. Arrrgh, Matey!]

They are so happy to be going to see their grandparents.  Cole somehow talked Mimi into taking him bowling (Mimi doesn't bowl, but Mimi WILL bowl for Cole!), and Tate told me he wanted to go to Baca's, I could leave, and "that would be a good plan."  LORDY.

I am thankful for my Little Valentines, for my Big Valentine, and for the love and support of friends and family over this Hard Day and the ones to follow.
